Liberan (Cecil) Garrett, 59, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 at his residence.
He was born Thursday, Feb. 9, 1950 in Middleboro, Ky., the son of the late James Monroe Garrett and the late Evelyn Francis Wollum Garrett.
He was a member of Hillsboro Church of God, and was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam and was the recipient of numerous medals and commendations, including the Purple Heart.
Surviving are his wife, Karen Day Garrett, of Hillsboro, whom he married May 23, 1970; a daughter, Elizabeth (Terry) Shaw of Xenia; two grandsons, Jacob Shaw, and Garret Shaw;three brothers, James Otis (Sandy) Garrett of Middleboro, Ky., Bill (Paula) Garrett of Waynesville, and Richard (Laura) Garrett of Xenia; two sisters, Marie (Eddie) Kash of Jamestown, Faye (Boe) O'Neal of Russell, Ky., brothers-in-law, Herb Day and John Day, and a sister-in-law, Eva Day, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jim Garrett; one brother, Charles Garrett; and one sister, Mary Turner.
Friends will be received 2-3:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 31 at the Hillsboro Church of God, 5760 U.S. Rt. 62, Hillsboro, Ohio.
Services will be held at Hillsboro Church of God, Sunday, Jan. 31, at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. John Maggard officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, on Pondlick Road, Highland County.
