Larry W. Ledford, 80, of New Vienna, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Aug. 25, 1937 in New Vienna, the son of the late Chester G. and Opal Yarger Ledford.

Larry was a 1955 graduate of New Vienna High School and a veteran of the United States Army. After being discharged from the Army, Larry worked as a welder in the construction industry.

He was a member of the New Vienna Church of Christ. Larry was an avid golfer and longtime member of Snow Hill Country Club, Wilmington Elks and Buckeye Hills Golf Courses. A proud achievement in golf was that he shot a round of 67 at age 67. Larry was also a member of Wilmington Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1224 and Wilmington Elks Lodge 797.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Pinkerton) Ledford, whom he married on April 19, 1966 in New Vienna; children, Diana and her husband, Ralph Parks, of New Vienna, Mike and his wife, Kim Ledford, of Lees Creek, Robert Walraven of New Vienna, Joni and her husband, Ron Wolf, of New Vienna, and Doug and his wife, Susan Ledford, of Lynchburg; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn McKenzie; and a brother, Chester E. Ledford.

According to his wishes, he was cremated. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at the New Vienna Church of Christ with minister Brad Clouse officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 2-4 p.m. Saturday. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 49 Honor Guard.
