Larry V. Cole, 83, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022 at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery.
He was born Nov. 22, 1938 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Charles F. and Georgeanna West Cole.
Larry had worked for and retired from the City of Hillsboro. He was a member of Wayman Chapel AME Church, a longtime member of the Hillsboro Lions Club and was a tremendous supporter of Hillsboro High School athletics.
He is survived by four children, Todd (Teresa) Cole of Wilmington, Larry Dean (Tonya) Cole of Wilmington, Rhonda Cole of Hillsboro and Regina Cole of Columbus; 11 grandchildren, Todd (Amber) Cole Jr. of Kettering, Zach (Ashley) Cole of Trenton, Anthony (Hannah) Cole of North Carolina, Kile Holland Cole, stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps in North Carolina, Brandon Cole of Georgia, Jessica (Gino) Ross of Columbus, Wesley and Whitney Runyon, Annie Stevens of Columbus, Kendra (B.J.) McEvoy of Wilmington and Darrell Cole of Wilmington; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Cole of Hillsboro and Mary Scott Cole of Dayton; special friends, Tina J. Hudson and Sarah, Jazelle, Janyia and Serenity Hudson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Chaney Cole, on Oct. 29, 2013; one son Darryl Cole; six brothers, Charles Cole, Jon “Joe” Cole, Richard Cole, Rudy Cole, Thomas Cole and George F. Cole; five sisters, Shirley “Sue” Cole, Alice Thomas, Frida Nelson, Fern Stevenson and Geraldine Board; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Tracy Cross will officiate. Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery. Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
