Kenneth “Red” Arthur, 90, of Leesburg, died Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown.
He was born Sept. 1, 1926 in Catawba, the son of the late Chester and Laura Fryman Arthur.
Mr. Arthur had retired from the A & H Millwright Company. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in World War II and participated in action against the enemy at Iwo Jima, Volcano Island Feb. 19, 1945 until March 16, 1945. He was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church, the Leesburg Lodge #78 F&AM, Leesburg American Legion, VFW Post 9094 and the Robert B. Crites Det 995 Marine Corps League Department of Ohio in Wilmington.
He is survived by three daughters, Rita (Danny) Daulton of Leesburg, Vicky (Glenn) Alexander of Cocoa Beach, Fla. and Kristy (Kevin) Greer of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Morton Arthur, on July 5, 2015; one grandson, Kenneth Ross Greer; one sister, Lois Baber; and two brothers, Thomas and Hubert Arthur.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Leesburg United Methodist Church. Pastors Rich Allen and John Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The Leesburg Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services at the cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Leesburg United Methodist Church.
