Kathy Sue Free Stanley Mason, 64, of Bainbridge, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at her home following an extended illness.
On Nov. 8, 1956, she was born at the Greenfield Hospital to John L. and Phyllis (Brown) Free.
Kathy enjoyed her business, Kathy Stanley Bookkeeping, which introduced her to so many lifelong friends. She enjoyed reading and sewing, and she could cook anything from one of her many collected cookbooks. She could tell a joke she heard five years ago and still get the punch line right. She was always up for a good laugh and enjoyed telling stories to her grandsons. Kathy also enjoyed gardening, and she always took pride in her flowers and yard.
Kathy held many offices and served on many community boards as well. She was the Paint Township Clerk for over 16 years, a past president of the Paint Valley School Board and member of the Ross County Senior Fair Board. But the most important and rewarding roles were Mom and Mimi. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
Kathy is survived by her son, Jesse James Stanley of Chillicothe; daughter, Jenny Lynn (Kevin) Meyer of Bloomingburg; four grandchildren, Henry, Wyatt, Luke and Jake Meyer; sister, Konnie (Randy) Cross, and brother, John O. Free, both of Bainbridge; several cousins, nieces, nephews and great aunts; and special friends, including Dawn White, Mary Ann Anderson and Kathy Skaggs.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeremiah Stanley; her husband, James W. Stanley; and her companion and friend, Ben Mason.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Bainbridge Cemetery with Troy Villars officiating. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Heartland Hospice, P.O. Box 400, Lucasville, Ohio 45648.
The Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home, Bainbridge is serving the family. Those wishing to sign Kathy's online register book may do so at www.ebrightfuneralhome.com.
