Kathleen M. Ragland

Kathleen M. Ragland, 87, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 15, 2023.

She was born Tuesday, July 30, 1935 in Ross County, a daughter of the late Adam H. and Icy Marie Locklear Payne.

She married Roger Ragland Sr. on June 10, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2014.

She was a 1954 graduate of Frankfort High School. Kate retired as a cashier at the Big Bear Grocery Store, where she had worked for 33 years. She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe.

Kathleen is survived by one son, Roger (Shelley) Ragland Jr. of Chillicothe; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Pat (Frank) Harris of Frankfort; three brothers, Elmer Payne of Oakland, Calif., William Payne of Pataskala and Roger Payne of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Martin Ragland; one sister, Cherry (Glenn) Coleman; and three brothers, Jesse, Adam and David Payne.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of her family in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Roger, following the service. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
