Karmel Kaye Payton, 62 of Washington C.H., passed away March 5, 2021 surrounded by her family at Mount Carmel Hospital in Grove City.
She was born on June 6, 1958 in Fayette County.
Karmel was a Miami Trace graduate in the class of 1976 and proceeded to obtain her LPN at FCMH School of Practical Nursing. She worked as a nurse through the years at Fayette County Memorial Hospital, Main Medical (in Wilmington), Southern Ohio Heath Network, Physicians for Women and recently retired from the Fayette County Health Department.
She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids, traveling with her husband, attending her grandkids games/events, cooking, gardening and crafting.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ircel Knedler Jr.
She is survived by her mother, Jana Knedler of Washington C.H.; sisters, Kindra (Gregg) Bolsinger of Cincinnati and Kim (Kevin) Yowler of Beavercreek; her high school sweetheart and husband of 44 years, Thom Payton of Washington C.H.; her son, Chad (Kathy) Payton; daughter, Jenna (Wesley) Dawes, both of Washington C.H.; and five grandchildren, Sidney, Cotey and Carley Payton and Westin and Lanie Dawes.
Arrangements will be taken care of by Edgington Funeral Home. No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future if a service is scheduled. Karmel was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and if desired, memorials may be directed there at 4679 S.R. 41, Washington C.H., OH 43160.
