Karen Elizabeth Brewer, 79, of Hillsboro, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2023.
She was born Nov. 21, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (Archer) Uphoff.
Karen was a member of the Living Hope Pentecostal Church.
Karen is survived by her husband, Gene Brewer, whom she married Feb. 24, 1985; sons, Scott Carlson and Derek Carlson; stepsons, Douglas Brewer and Warren Brewer; stepdaughter, Rachelle Winfree; grandchildren, Rachael Carlson, Christopher Carlson and Brandon Carlson; stepgrandchildren, Megan Rose Simicsac, Mellisa Bewley, Jason Brewer, Tyler Brewer and Regine and Devin Samples; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Richard Uphoff; sisters, Kathryn Pederson and Mary Dean; and family friend, Angie Sawyer.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Kevin Carlson.
Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 24, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home. Friends may call Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the Thompson Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023 at 9 a.m. at the Dayton National Cemetery.
