Joyce M. King, 84, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021.
Joyce was born June 1, 1936 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Estel and Inez (Whitley) Wilson.
Joyce was a 1955 graduate of Hillsboro High School. She then went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Wilmington College in 1959 and her master's degree from Morehead State in 1964. Joyce was an English teacher in Greenfield New Richmond school systems, a guidance counselor at Hillsboro and finished her career at Laurel Oaks as a guidance counselor.
Joyce taught Sunday school for many years and served on the board for Highland County Christian Schools for 34 years. She was one of the founders of Little Lamb Christian Preschool.
Joyce, along with her husband Pat, owned Timberlane Sports and Signs in Hillsboro.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Patrick “Pat” King; daughter, Jennifer (Matthew) Petersen of Miamisburg; grandchildren, Evelyn and Corwin Petersen; brothers, Marvin Wilson of Hillsboro, Larry (Shirley) Wilson of Sardinia, Curtis (Cinda) Wilson of Hillsboro and John (Sharon) Wilson of Lexington, Ky.; sister, Shari (Earl) Silva of Richmond, Ky.; beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Besides her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Early Wilson; and two sisters, Janet Hibberd and Shirley Peters.
Services will be held Friday May 21, 2021 at noon at the Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 W. Walnut St. Hillsboro 45133. Friends will gather from 10 a.m. until service time at Hillsboro Church of Christ. Jim Bush will officiate services, and burial will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Little Lamb Christian Preschool, 155 W. Walnut St., Hillsboro or Butler Springs Christian Camp, 3701 S.R. 41, Hillsboro.
