Joyce L. Carson, 81, of Highland, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at her home.
She was born on Aug. 12, 1939 in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Herbert and Melva Marie (East) Pitzer.
She was a former volunteer of the Leesburg Area Life Squad for several years and worked at Candle-lite of Leesburg.
She is survived by her children, Doug (Janet) Carson of Louisville, Ky., Greg (Neely Jacob) Carson of Midland and Debra (Arnie) Adams of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Josh (Sarah) Carson, Jennifer (Tyler) Robertson, Edward (Savannah) Stewart, David (Crystal) Stewart, Nathan (Casey) Hawkins, Kyle Carson, Michael Carson, Shaylee Carson and Abbie Buxsel; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Jeanie) Pitzer of Leesburg and Ron (Nancy) Pitzer of Minneapolis, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Linley H. Carson, on Oct. 19, 2002; and one sister, Karen Winters.
A public graveside service will be Saturday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Highland with Matt Miller officiating. A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County North Joint Fire/Ambulance, 200 South Street, Leesburg, Ohio 45135 or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123. Social distancing and masks will be required.
