Joseph “Joe” Willard Faris, 84, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 16, 2016 at the Court House Manor in Washington C.H.
He was born March 26, 1932 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Willard D. and Ruth B. (Lewis) Faris.
Joe graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1950, then he went on to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from the University of Miami in Oxford. He taught for over 35 years in various counties in southern Ohio. He was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, the Hillsboro Elks Lodge 361 and the Hillsboro Eagles Aerie 1161. He enjoyed singing and loved playing golf.
Joe is survived by a brother, John (Rita) Faris of Washington C.H.; one niece, Diane (Dennis) Munro of Washington C.H.; one nephew, Dean (Barb) Faris of Washington C.H.; two great-nieces, Devin Faris of Washington C.H. and Alexandra (Luke) Bodey of Utah; two great-nephews, Derek Faris of Washington C.H. and Christopher Brown of Washington C.H.; one great-great-nephew, Keegan Faris; and his best friend, Jack Eakins of Hillsboro.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Hillsboro. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. following visitation Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. Jim Bush will officiate. Burial will follow services in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
