Joseph "Joe" R. Fraysier, 82, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022 at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.
He was born on April 4, 1940, in Hillsboro, the son of the late Millard and Barbara Emeline (Robbins) Fraysier.
After graduating from Hillsboro High School, Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years. He enjoyed farming his entire life. He also worked for NCR in Dayton, and AZO in Columbus. He was a member of the Highland Masonic Lodge 38, a member of the Highland District Hospital Board of Directors for 40 years, a 38-year member of the Lynchburg Area Joint Fire and Ambulance District board of trustees, and he was a Highland County Union Township trustee for 40 years. Joe enjoyed life to the fullest and he enjoyed being a public servant, but what he loved the most was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Fraysier, whom he married on Jan. 28, 1967; four children, Tony (Tina) Fraysier of Dunnellon, Fla., Kelley Jo Underwood of Hillsboro, Cathy (Scott) Faulconer of Greenfield and J.M. (Denice) Fraysier of Leesburg; 14 grandchildren, D.J., Nathanael, Stephanie (John), Michaela (Montana), Dorothy, Karsson (Ryan), Justin (Hannah), Morgan, Samuel, Maysun, Mallory, Thomas, Emeline and Collin; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Katie Fraysier Clark; and an infant brother, Elva R. Fraysier.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 at the Greater Life Assembly, 12145 N. Shore Drive, Hillsboro. Masonic services will be 7:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29
at the Greater Life Assembly. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the Greater Life Assembly. Red Gallimore will be officiating. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Veteran Honor Guard, will follow funeral services in the Marshall Cemetery.
