Joseph Edmund Current, 86, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022 at Adena Greenfield Medical Center.
 
He was born May 17, 1936 in Greenfield, the son of Walter and Ethel (Warner) Current.
 
Joe was a 1954 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, avid fisherman, woodworker, poet, and a lifetime student of the Bible.
 
He retired in 1994 after 31 years of teaching and coaching, two years at Peebles and the remaining 29 years at the Greenfield Exempted Village School District. He was a minister for 66 years, including the past 18 years at the First Baptist Church in Washington C.H.
 
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue (Mann) Current, whom he married Sept. 2, 1956; one daughter, Lori (Chuck) Anderson of Greenfield; one son, Mark (Sherry) Current of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Emily (Joshua) Wiseman of South Salem, Luke (Shanna) Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn., Kim (Brian) McNeal of Leesburg and Tabby Penn of Greenfield; five great-grandchildren, Abby and Joe Wiseman, Nate (Erica) McNeal, Nick (Jeana) McNeal and Liam Penn; three great-great-grandchildren, Eli, Amelia and Olivia McNeal; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
He was preceded in death by both parents.
 
Funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Washington C.H. with Pastor Mark Current officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 13 from 3-6 p.m. at the church.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 301 E. East Street, Washington C.H., Ohio 43160.
 
The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
