John William “Bill” Jones, 92, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born Oct. 28, 1929 in Cuba, Ohio, the son of the late Harry S. and Mary (Gumley) Jones.
On Aug. 30, 1952, he married Loree (Hopkins) Jones; this year would have been their 70th wedding anniversary.
Bill was a graduate of Martinsville High School class of 1947. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War, and for several years was the co-owner of the D & J Barber Shop in Wilmington. He had also worked at Cincinnati Milacron in Wilmington for several years. He was a faithful servant of God and a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Hillsboro. He truly loved his family and God's word.
Surviving are his loving wife, Loree Jones; four children, John (Diana) Jones, Jenelle (Jim) Buck, Julie (Neal) Barreras and Jay (Debra) Jones; 11 grandchildren, Michele (Aaron) Wiley, Craig (Jenn) Jones, Justin (Terre) Todd, Sasha (J. Clark) Anderson, Evan (Britney) Buck, Noah (Stephanie) Buck, Drew (Amber) Barreras, Dawson (Jessica) Barreras, Dylan Barreras, Alyssa Jones and Owen (Jessica) Jones; and nine great-grandchildren, Landen Griffith, Aaren Griffith, Ella Todd, Keegan Todd, Rowan Todd, Paisley Buck, James Anderson, Silas Barreras and Ava Barreras.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his four brothers, Harry C. (Roseanna) Jones, George G. (Hildegard) Jones, Lee B. (Alberta) Jones and Donald R. Jones.
Private graveside services will be held Friday at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Hillsboro at the convenience of the family.
Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro has been entrusted with arrangements.
