John W. Carmean, 75, of Hillsboro, passed away Monday morning, Nov. 30, 2015 at the Clermont Mercy Hospital. 

He was born Aug. 18, 1940, in Greenfield, the son of the late Perle and Donna (Custis) Carmean. 

He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He was a lifetime farmer and had retired from Bush Leasing in Wilmington, where he was a cabinet maker. 

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara (Slone) Carmean, whom he married on June 13, 1970 in Newtown. He is also survived by two daughters, Cindy Carmean of Saline, Mich. and Karen (Scott) Bridges of Sardinia; four grandchildren, Brandi Keplinger of Saline, Mich., Marcus Keplinger of Leesburg and Mackenzie Bridges and Rylie Bridges, both of Sardinia; seven siblings, Anna Louise Kimberly, Perle Jr. Carmean and Norman (Roberta) Carmean, all of Hillsboro, David Carmean of Greenfield and Lester Carmean, Russell (Sue) Carmean and Tony Carmean, all of Hillsboro; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jo Trefz.  

In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 at the Hillsboro Elks Lodge. The Highland County Honor Guard will present military honors immediately following the service. Following all services, the family will continue to receive friends until 6 p.m. The Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Hillsboro is serving the family.
