John Philip Lawson, 44, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at his home.
He was born the son of Logan and Sharon (Minteer) Lawson on April 2, 1974 in Columbus.
John worked as a project manager for Cox Paving LLC. John preferred spending his time with his wife, Misty, and daughters, Taylor and Gracie. A lot of this time involved coaching and assisting his daughters with softball and bowling. John also enjoyed OSU football, umpiring softball games and grilling/cooking for his friends and family. John was happiest sitting on his patio around a fire with his family and friends, enjoying a good meal he had prepared.
He is survived by his wife, Misty (Strevel) Lawson, whom he married on May 17, 1997 in Hillsboro; two daughters, Gracie Ann Lawson and Taylor Mae Lawson; father, Logan Lawson; mother, Sharon (Minteer) Lawson; a sister, Sharon Lawson; aunts and uncles, Philip Minteer, Rosie (Steve) Bishop, Polly (Brian) Stanforth and Danny (Kathy) Lawson and family; niece, Courtney Ruth Lawson; nephew, Logan Philip Lawson; cousins, Amber Minteer, Kelly Bishop, Raia Bishop, Steven Bishop, Angela Stanforth, Bill (Rebecca) Cartwright and family; parents-in-law, Larry Gene and Phyllis Strevel; and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Betty Ruth (Ebener) Minteer, Frank A. Ebner, Bill T. Minteer, Daniel K. Lawson and Martha P. Lawson; and aunts, Molly Lawson and Alice Cartwright.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at the funeral home. Leo Kuhn will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
