John Lee Ballein, 72, of New Vienna, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2022 at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.
He was born July 12, 1949 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Donald and Martha (Taylor) Ballein.
He was the former assistant manager of the Student Bookstore in East Lansing, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Sluss) Ballein; children, Johnny (Robin) Ballein of Mowrystown, Andrea (Mark Conover) Claycomb and Chad (Melissa) Sluss of Lowell, Mich., Corey (Amanda) Ballein of Lynchburg, Brian (Cassi) Ballein of Hillsboro and Tim Ballein of New Vienna; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several siblings; daughter-in-law, Dana Ballein of Washington C.H.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Tom Ballein; and siblings, Howard, Barb, Mary, Donald, Kenny and Hugh.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Assembly God Church, 8343 SR 73, Hillsboro, Ohio. The Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro is serving the family.
