John "Jack" Cowgill, 87, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, 2016 at his home.
He was born June 19, 1929 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Parker Walter and Olive Mae West Cowgill.
John was a birthright Quaker and had attended Fall Creek Friends Meeting during his childhood. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. John retired from Wright-Patt after 21 years, where on their work breaks they would play euchre and ping pong. After retirement, he did some painting all over Highland County. John enjoyed bowling, swimming, traveling and attending country music concerts with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Cowgill, whom he married in June 1966; two daughters, Kathy (Kenny) Hawk and Colleen Daube; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph W. Cowgill and Paul Cowgill; and a sister, Mary Jean Cowgill.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at the Falls Creek Friends Meeting, 11245 Karnes Road, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
