John E. Wright

John E. Wright, 80, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 30, 1935, in Columbus, the son of the late Merrill J. and Lucille (Lawyer) Wright.
He had worked for Albers Grocery for 16 years and Rotary Forms for 30 years. He served as pastor for five years at the North Fourth Street Holiness Church in Greenfield, served as clerk at the Hillsboro Church of God for 19 years and most recently attended the Christian Assembly Church, where he loved to play his guitar and sing.
On Aug. 16, 1980, in Hillsboro, he married his wife of 35 years, Nancy (Deaton) Wright, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Debra (Gerold) Wilkin, Sherri (Steve) Hafley and Vickie (Chuck) Howell; a son, Alan Elmore; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Evans) Wright; a daughter, Cathy Sue Wright; two grandsons, Ryan Howell and Jimmy Peters; and a sister, Elizabeth Matchett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Randle Goble will officiate. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery near Belfast. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
