Joey Christine Yourkvitch, 30, of Wilmington, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019 in the comfort of her home.
She was born in Lexington, Ky. on Nov. 1, 1988. She spent a decade of her childhood in Florida before moving to Ohio.
Joey was the devoted wife and best friend of Andrew (AJ) Yourkvitch of Wilmington, formerly of Cleveland. They just celebrated eight years of marriage and over ten years of companionship together. She was the admiring momma to her dog, Ollie. Joey was the beloved daughter of Rhonda R. Haas of Hillsboro and Joseph Haas of Georgetown. Joey was the adoring aunt of Ethan J. Haas and Vivian J. Cluff, both of Hillsboro, and Jacob Martin of Cape Coral, Fla. Joey was the sister of Kahrhon Bajlanpour of Ft. Myers, Fla., Rachel Martin of Asheville, N.C., Justin (Jill) Martin of Cape Coral, Fla. and twin sister, Jesse Haas of Hillsboro.
Joey was an avid gamer, collector and artist and was passionate about the realm of cosplay, KPOP and Japanese culture. She had many interests and played a huge role in the Thespian Society while attending Hillsboro High School and Southern State Community College. She starred in numerous productions, such as “Arsenic and Old Lace,” “The Insanity of Mary Girard,” “John Lennon and Me,” “West Side Story” and many others. She sang in the HHS choir and was a member of the HHS marching band. She loved animals, Halloween, comics, movies and all oddities and technology.
Joey battled and fought kidney disease since 2006. She was a patient and attended DaVita Dialysis Center in Xenia. Joey leaves behind many family, friends and acquaintances that she inspired with her strength, talent, humor and unique style.
A memorial honoring Joey will be at the J.W. Denver Williams City Park, 1100 Rombach Avenue, Wilmington 45177. This was the location of her 2010 wedding to AJ. The memorial service will be held from 1:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 to celebrate and remember her birthday and her life.
