Jo Ann Lorenz, 59, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021 at her home.
She was born Sept. 13, 1961 in Troy, the daughter of the late David and Patsy (Cummings) Hart.
She was a member of the Hillsboro Eagles Aerie 1161 Auxiliary. Jo Ann was best known for her many years working at Wanda’s Grille in Hillsboro and most recently at Momma’s Restaurant. She leaves many friends she made over those years.
She is survived by a son, Joe (Holly) Hart of Hillsboro; a daughter, Sarah (Sohn) Melvin of West Frankfort, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Lucy, William, Delaina, Asher, Lyla, Chase, Jared and Olivia; one great-grandchild on the way; two sisters, Bonnie Lowrey of Maplewood and Cheryl Tabor of Hillsboro; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Hart; and two brothers, Tom Hart and Dale Hart.
The family would like to welcome those who knew Jo Ann to join them in a celebration of her life, which will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Hillsboro Eagles. A meal in Jo Ann’s honor will immediately follow.
