Jerry E. Pruitt, 79, of Mowrystown, Ohio, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 18, 2015 at Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro.

He was born March 20, 1936 in Ashland, Ky., son of the late Kinney Pruitt and Ruby Evelyn Roades Pruitt.

Jerry was an Air Force Veteran, a member of the Scottish Rite Freemasonry 32nd-degree, an Elder of the Presbyterian Church of Sardinia, and wrote Mowrystown Recollections for The Highland County Press for many years.

Surviving are wife, Betty Pruitt, whom he married on May 5, 1971 in Chillicothe; six children, Tina (Eric Huffman) Pruitt, Jerry (Gabrielle) Pruitt, Brenda Lewis, Robyn Pruitt, Jon Pruitt, and Jason (Tammy) Pruitt; and eight grandchildren, Ashley, Miles, Jerry III, Christopher, Jessica, Michael, Koby and Caysee.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Jon Francis Pruitt.

Memorial services will be held at Presbyterian Church of Sardinia, 110 Broad St. Sardinia, Saturday, Aug. 22 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Bob Obermeyer officiating.

Interment will follow in the Buford Cemetery, Buford, Ohio.

Friends will be received at the church Saturday from 1-2 p.m.
