Jerren (Jed) Blaine Swayne, 74, of Peebles, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021 at the Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati.

Jed was born in Peebles on Nov. 17, 1946, the son of the late Harley and Ruby (Smith) Swayne.

After serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, he worked for General Motors. He belonged to the United Auto Workers #696 in Dayton. Jed was a member of the Union Hill Community Church. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1964.

Jed is survived by his wife, Doris (Stack) Swayne, whom he married Nov. 16, 1996. He also leaves two sons, Jeff (Amy) Swayne of Hillsboro and Ben (Lydia) Cox of Cherry Fork; three daughters, Jennifer (Ryan) Black of Centerville, Nikki Blodgett of Peebles and Becky (Matthew) Minton of Peebles; four sisters, Sharon (Phil) Fulton of Peebles, Marilyn (Terry) McCoy of Springfield, Robin Lawhorn of Hillsboro and Lisa (David) Brown of Peebles; and will be missed by his 17 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jed was preceded in death by his brother, Phil Swayne; and sister, Karen Swayne.

Family and friends paid their respects during visitation Friday, Oct. 1, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Union Hill Community Church in Peebles.

Funeral services for Jed were held Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Union Hill Community Church, in Peebles. Phil Fulton officiated the ceremony. Burial followed in the Hackleshin Memorial Cemetery in Peebles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jed’s memory to the Franklin Fire Association.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
