Jeanette M. Hester

Jeanette M. Hester, 82, of South Salem, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025 at Traditions of Chillicothe.
 
She was born Dec. 7, 1942 in Springfield, the daughter of Wilfred S. and Ruth (Penwell) Moore.

Jeanette was raised in Bainbridge and was a 1960 graduate of Paint Valley High School. She worked as a medical transcriptionist at several doctor offices in Greenfield before eventually retiring from Fayette County Memorial Hospital. She was a talented musician and often played piano for church services. When she was able, she attended the Greenfield Church of Christ. She loved crafts and decorating, growing flowers and cooking for her family.

On Jan. 6, 1961 she married Joseph Hester, and they had 62 years together until his passing in 2023. 

She is survived by their three sons, Mitchell Hester of Columbus, Jerry (Daisy) Hester of Florida, and Timothy (Jennifer) Hester of Greenfield; grandsons, Cameron, Joshua, and Matthew Hester, and step grandson, Eric Lowe. Also surviving are her sisters, Margaret Shady of Kansas, Connie (Leonard) Natwick of Florida, and Barbara Moore of Blanchester; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Wilfred S. Moore Jr. and Stephen Moore and parents in law Harry and Viola Hester.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Jay Fabin and Pastor Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery.
