Janet Sue Cheek, 76, of Leesburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at her home.
She was born Sept. 14, 1945 in Cincinnati, the daughter of the late Edwin John and Geraldine (Hitt) Hahn.
Janet worked at PC Connection in Wilmington for 14 years. She was a member of the Highland County Senior Center and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles post 1224 in Wilmington. She was an avid bingo player. She enjoyed cheering on the Cincinnati Reds, listening to bluegrass and classic country music, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Janet is survived by two children, Loretta (Mike) Greene of Leesburg and Billy Conger of Kissimmee, Fla.; five grandchildren, Nick (Mandy Cooper) Pennington of Leesburg, Jessica (Andrew Helser) Pennington of Leesburg, Kayla Conger of Wilmington, Jaiden Stern of Winchester and Jocelyn Greene of Winchester; six great-granddaughters, Madalyn, Morgan, Annavae, Avalynn, Bristol and Brinlee, and two great-grandsons; two siblings, John Hahn of Sardinia and Sandy Wilkin of Hillsboro; two nephews, Gary (Cathy) Wilkin of Minnesota and Ronald Wilkin of Wilmington; a niece, Patricia (Steve) Reed of Tennessee; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Gerald “Jake” Cheek.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. following visitation on Thursday, Feb. 17 at the Turner Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Martinsville IOOF Cemetery.
