James W. Hamm Sr., 95, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 at home.

He was born Feb. 16, 1922 in Bourbon County, Ky., the son of the late Jenning Bryan Hamm and Ida Martin Snapp Hamm. 
 
James was an United States Army WWII veteran, having served in north Africa and Italy. He was a farmer all of his life and had retired from General Motors after over 25 years of service.
 
Surviving are two daughters, Jean (Bobby) Klaas of Tipp City and Marlene Stephenson of Hillsboro; son, James W. Hamm Jr. of Delaware; seven grandchildren, Darren, Doug, Heather, Bryan, Brandy, Travis and Todd; and 14 great-grandchildren.
 
James was preceded in death by his wife, Lavern Hamm, who passed away on Nov. 18, 2008; two sisters, Jessie Hanley and Emma Jean Hughes; and a brother, Roy Lee Hamm.
 
Graveside services will be held at Dayton National Cemetery on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11 a.m.

Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro is serving the family.
