James “Jim” Robert Butler, 69, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Highland District Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1953, in Greenfield, the son of the late Charles Edward Butler and Wanda Jean (Stratton) Butler.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked in construction for over 30 years, and he enjoyed fishing, target practice on the shooting range and having a good time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Jim is survived by four children, Brad (Kim) Butler of Washington Court House, Jason (Nikki) Butler of Washington Court House, Shea (Jesse) Haycook of Washington Court House and Abby (Ryan) Fife of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Kaylee Butler Fife, Pistol “Pistol Pete” Fife, Kordell Butler, Jordan Butler, Trevor McKnight, Olivia Haycook and Easton Haycook; a sister, Charlene (Dave) Binegar of Bainbridge, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Sharon.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Gilboa Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help with funeral expenses may be made in Jim’s name in c/o Turner & Son Funeral Home, P.O. Box 127, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
