James Hubert “Jim” Sexton, 89, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017.

Jim was born on May 8, 1927 in Middletown, the son of the late Clarence and Mamie (Snook) Sexton.

Jim enjoyed a career as a tool design engineer. Upon retirement, he and wife Jean went on to spend many happy years together spending time with family and restoring numerous homes in the Highland County area.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Norma Jean (Wilkerson) Sexton; daughters, Jennifer Hoyer, Susan Freyhoff and Donna (Harry) George; sons, James A. Sexton and Benton (Darlene) Sexton; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends to whom he has left countless fond memories of laughter, encouragement, advice and love. Jim will always remain alive in the memories of those who loved, respected and treasured him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Miller and Betsy Shaw; two brothers, Jon Sexton and Wilson Sexton.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Richard Burns will officiate with burial to follow in the Miami Cemetery in Corwin, Ohio. Friends may call Friday from noon until 2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
