James Dean Blain, 70, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 at home.
He was born Oct. 3, 1951 in Greenfield, the son of James W. and Ruth A. (Thompson) Blain.
Dean was a 1970 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and a member of the Masonic Lodge #78. From birth, he was an avid car enthusiast, loved listening to music of all kinds and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
He retired from Thrifty Propane and was previously employed at Candle-lite, Airborne, and Greenfield Printing and Publications, and he was also former owner of Dean’s Sunoco.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Lynn “Abbie” (Smith) Blain, whom he married Nov. 23, 1974; two daughters, Rachel (Kevin) Gerhardt of New Holland and Jessalyn (Mark) Hunter of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Abigail Gerhardt, Ian Hunter and Briggs Hunter; one sister, Carolyn Black of Greenfield; two brothers-in-law, Jeff Hazelbaker of Greenfield and Kenneth Yeakley of Greenfield; one niece, Brooke Hazelbaker of Greenfield; and one nephew, Louis (Shelby) Blair of Bryan, Texas.
He was preceded in death by both parents; in-laws, Richard and Ella Jane Smith; and two sisters-in-law, Regina “Hobie” Blair-Yeakley and Rosemarie “Dixie” Hazelbaker.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 4 from 3-5 p.m. at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield. Funeral service will be at 5 p.m. beginning with Masonic service followed by Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Greenfield Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
