Irene Fite Cocklin, 90, of Hillsboro passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2107 at Highland District Hospital.
She was born Nov. 10, 1926 in Eoila, Ky., the daughter of the late Robert and Hiley Coots Bowman.
Mrs. Cocklin had worked as a nurse’s aide for the Highland Happy Hours Nursing Home in Hillsboro and was a member of the Hillsboro Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by five children, Jenny Musin of Hillsboro, Eddy (Diane) Fite of Columbus, Elinda (Shelby) Merrill of Ripley, Ralph (Nancy) Fite of Loveland and Rodney Fite of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nell Fite of Hillsboro, Kathleen Lewis of Hillsboro and Hazel Fordyce of Atlanta, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kimberly Sholler Knapp; two sisters, Audrey Burke and Evelyn Caudill; and two brothers, Carl and Keith Bowman.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Hillsboro Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Richard Burns will officiate. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church, at 6360 U.S. 50, Hillsboro.
