Hugh Burton, Jr.

Hugh Burton, Jr., 67, of Chillicothe, formerly of New Vienna, the ninth child of 13 children of the late Hugh Burton Sr. and Sarah (Shingle) Burton Palmer, passed away March 7, 2015 at the Chillicothe V.A. Medical Center that had been his home for 30 years due to many health issues.
Hugh Jr. was raised in the New Vienna United Methodist Church and remained a very spiritual person during his life. After graduating as a 12-year senior at East Clinton High School, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed construction worker until his health no longer allowed him to continue.
He is survived by a daughter, Natalie Nichols; siblings Rosemary Marie, Elaine, Dianne Lenore, Cynthia May, Lydia Lee and Aaron Wayne; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend since school, David Pinkerton of New Vienna.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Linda Louise, Ronald Lee, Barbara Alice, David Allen, Robert Mitchell and Donald Leroy.
Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at the New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Leo Kuhn will officiate.
The Highland County Honor Guard will present military honors. The Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg is serving the family.
