Harold “Coolie” Dwain Wilkin, 83, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at his home.
He was born the son of the late Harold Lucas and Vera (Roush) Wilkin on March 21, 1934 in Highland County.
Harold served as Dodson Township Trustee for 20 years, was a school bus driver for Lynchburg-Clay Schools for 20 years, restored antique tractors, was a member of the Allensburg Church of Christ and was a dairy farmer for over 50 years. Harold proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Selph Wilkin, whom he married Nov. 21, 1953 in Lynchburg; two children, Timothy L. Wilkin of Lynchburg and Lisa Marie Bowra of West Chester; five grandchildren, Andrea (Rusty) Donohoo, Sara Lee Wilkin, Haley Bowra, Braeden Bowra and Theran Bowra; one great-granddaughter, Josephine Donohoo; brother, Leland Dale “Gus” Wilkin of Lynchburg; daughter-in-law, Teri Wilkin James of Blanchester; sister-in-law, Sandra Webb of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Lee Wilkin; brother, Darwin “Ick” Wilkin; sister-in-law, Janice Holland; and brother-in-law, Charles “Butch” Selph.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Bob Stevens will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow at Barnes Cemetery.
