Gwen Rice Clark, 87, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 25, 2015 at the Hospice of Dayton.

She was born April 24, 1928 in Akron, the daughter of the late John Basil and Willa Ann (Heaberlin) Rice.

On June 20, 1952 in Olive Hill, Ky., she married Delmar L. Clark, who survives.

She had been a member of the Dayton Central Nazarene and the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, where she was very active and had held various positions. Gwen was an inspirational writer, a longtime newspaper columnist and was a first grade teacher for over 20 years.

In addition to her husband, other surviving family members are her two sons, Kelly Duane (Linda) Clark of Union, Ohio and Timothy Clark of Hillsboro; daughter, Kathy (John) Boehm of Woodland, Calif.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Rice of Cincinnati; three sisters, Esther Ferguson of Flatwoods, Ky., Verna Mae (Elmo) Melvin of Wurtland, Ky. and Britta (Bill) Bridges of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd, John, Harold and Waldo Rice; and sisters, Dorothy and Marguerite.

Funeral services will be held noon, Friday, Aug. 28 at the Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 East Main Street, Hillsboro with Rev. Steve Nickels officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of services, Friday, Aug. 28 at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

Contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton or the Alzheimer's Association.
