George F. Bush, 86, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 due to heart complications.
Mr. Bush was born Sept. 26, 1935 in West Virginia to the late Lena and Avon J. Bush.
George was the owner of Bush Auto Place and Bush Leasing and an active member of many organizations within Clinton County, such as National Bank and Trust, Nike Center, Pan Ohio Cancer Bicycle Fundraiser, Clinton County Council of Alcoholics Anonymous, St. Columbkille Catholic Church, The Wilmington Bike Club and the Sarasota, Florida Bike Club, just to name a few. He was passionate about the community he lived in, and he was always donating his time and service to many organizations within the community.
While he will always be remembered as an active member of the community, his family and close friends will always remember his optimistic and caring attitude toward life. He truly was interested in how you were doing, always had a story to make you laugh and looked at life as a “glass half full rather than half empty.”
His most cherished times were those spent with his family and friends, which includes his many travels by bike, boat, RV or plane. His loved ones will truly miss him.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Charlene McGreevy Bush, whom he married in April 1964 in Columbus.
Mr. Bush is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael (Lisa) Bush of Maineville and Mark (Andrea) Bush of Wilmington; a daughter and a son-in-law, Michelle (Kurt) Imhulse of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Marcia Drake of Buckhannon, W.Va.; a sister, Ella (Dale) Forsythe of Cumberland Ky.; brother-in-law, Michael (Kathleen) McGreevy of Logan; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Robert) Walter of Columbus and Christine (Judd) Bush of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Don Haines and Michael Dodd of Columbus; and a special friend, Jean Lay of Wilmington. George was a proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren, Alex Bush, Abigail Bush, Riley Bush, Summer Bush, Bailey Bush, Nicholas Bush, Andrew Bush, Joseph Bush, Kyle Imhulse, Kevin Imhulse, Brad Drake and Jenny Drake, and five great-grandchildren. He also loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris (Richard) Wolverton and Susan (Pete) Rippe; brother, Judd (Christine) Bush; and three sisters-in-law, Lois (Robert) Welsh, Judith Dodd and Karen Haines.
Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington with Rev. Michael Holloran officiating. Friends may call Monday, March 28, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. at Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street Wilmington 45177.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Sleep in Heavenly Peace PO Box 426, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
