Gene Paul Aber, 91, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021.

He was born in Lynchburg on April 15, 1930, the son of the late Ezekiel and Sarah (Burton) Aber.

Gene served in the United States Army during the Korean War, was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and was a part of the Southern Ohio Antique Tractor Association.

Gene is survived by his wife, Bessie Aber; son, Gary (Anna) Aber of Hillsboro, daughters, Paula Swearingen of Hillsboro and Sandy (Kevin) Dicky of Hillsboro; son-in-law, Steve Warnock of Hillsboro; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Rose) Aber, on Aug. 13, 1998; daughter, Teresa Warnock; brothers, Delman, Zeke, Oscar, Norris and Norman Aber; sisters, Mildred Meddock, Gladys Bowen and Edna Newkirk; great-granddaughter, Madison Simmons; and son-in-law, Alfred Swearingen.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at the Hillsboro Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.

Friends may call Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene.
