Gay Gilliland, 80, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022 at her home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1941 in Harwood, the daughter of the late Clovis and Frances Brose Hopkins.
Gay had worked for several years in the Hillsboro City Schools, for the Highland County Chamber of Commerce and also worked for John Fuller at the Hillcrest Pharmacy. She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ and had been a member of the Parent Teacher Organization.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Gilliland, whom she married on Nov. 6, 1959; four children, Jeff (Elaine) Gilliland, Brent (Gayle) Gilliland, Angie (Kenny) Ferguson of Dayton and Patrick (Tara) Gilliland of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Treven Ferguson, Brianne (Chad) Abbott, Tye (Sabrina) Gilliland, Taylor (Cody) Scarberry, Chase (Ali Stratton) Gilliland, Jessie (Caleb) Gregory, Gabriel Gilliland, Kinsey Gilliland and Shane Gilliland; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clo Davis of Lynchburg and Loree (Bill) Jones of Hillsboro; and one brother, Dennis (Debbie) Hopkins of Piketon.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at the Northside Church of Christ, 25 Greenfield Pike, Hillsboro. Guillermo Alverez and Bill Pierce will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the church. The family requests that due to COVID-19, face coverings be used while indoors.
