Gary William Boivin, 74, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Oct. 8, 1948, in Youngstown, the son of the late Robert and Edna (Price) Boivin.

Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for over 40 years for Blue Flame Propane. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, a member of the Peace Modelers Train Club and a member of the AXP – Ohio Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Orphans’ Home in Xenia.

Gary loved his family, animals and his pet cows. He will be greatly missed.

Gary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anita Boivin, whom he married on July 4, 1970; two children, Scott (Janet) Boivin of Australia and Kristy (Howard) Rudy of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Spencer Rudy, Rachel Rudy, Noah Rudy, Andrew Rudy and Caleb Boivin; five siblings, Nancy Meyers of Xenia, Mary Pritchard of Portsmouth, Bob (Karen) Boivin of Illinois, Bill Boivin of Xenia, David Boivin of Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Judy Frindt, Thomas Boivin and Michael Boivin.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27 at the Peace Lutheran Church, 231 Harry Sauner Road, Hillsboro. Military Honors presented by the Highland County Veteran Honor Guard will take place at 3 p.m. and a celebration of Gary’s life will immediately follow in the church.
