Gary Keith Johnson, 77, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024 at home.
 
He was born Aug. 8, 1947 in Ross County, the son of Foster and Martha (White) Johnson.
 
He was a 1967 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School. He enjoyed playing cards, Euchre tournaments and helping neighbors.
 
He retired from Montgomery Security, of which he was at Candle-lite of Leesburg for a majority of the time. He was a former employee at Thatcher Tubes of Washington C.H., and prior to that he was an employee at Greenfield Exempted Village Schools, where he served as custodian and bus driver.
 
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Eselgroth) Johnson, whom he married July 9, 1968; one son, Bret (Nancy) Johnson of Greenfield; two daughters, Tessa Brown of Middletown and Connie Johnson of Greenfield; five grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Leonard (Phyllis) Johnson of Bainbridge and Michael (Shelia) Johnson of Chillicothe; one sister, Beverly (Dan) Mayo of New Vienna; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.  
 
He was preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Bishop; five brothers, David, Chuck, Glenn, Wendell and James Johnson; and both parents.
 
Cremation will take place, and a private memorial service will be at the convenience of the family.
