Frank Richard Everhart, 73, of the Carmel community, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born July 11, 1948 in Jeffersonville, the son of the late Donald Everhart and Dorothy (Cox) Robinette.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam as a Seabee. He worked at Carter Lumber for 32 years. He began working in Washington Court House, then earning the position as manager and opening a store in Grove City, which he managed for seven years, before going back and retiring from Carter Lumber in Washington Court House.
He was a carpenter and enjoyed building his home and his pens for all the animals he loved and raised. What Frank loved the most was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Frank is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Everhart, whom he married Sept. 19, 1970 in Washington Court House; three children, Frank (Karla) Payton of Jeffersonville, Tammy (Rodney) Gausman of Hillsboro and Jonathan “Johnny” Everhart of Washington Court House; three grandchildren, Jonathan “J.R.” (Lindsay) Everhart of Bainbridge, Vanessa Ward of Peebles and Corey (Hannah) Gausman of Washington Court House; four great-grandchildren, Jasmine Everhart, Jayden Ward, October Ward and Corbyn Gausman; three siblings, James “Bo” (Barb) Everhart of Washington Court House, Judy Thompson of Washington Court House and Kenneth (Sandy) Everhart of Washington Court House; six sisters-in-law, Judy Everhart, Rosemary Straley, Joyce (Donnie) White, Judy (Linn) Mosley, Linda (Robert) Rhoads and Carol Everhart; a brother-in-law, David “Butch” (Carolyn) Straley; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings, Martha Dresbaugh, Harold Everhart, Robert Everhart, Juanita Phillips, John McCoy, Lenna Moore and Donald “Donnie” Everhart; two brothers-in-law, Darrell Thompson and Delmar Straley; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis (Joe) Wilson.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 from 11 a.m. until noon at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will take place at noon following visitation at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow services in the Bainbridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, Iowa 50037-0022.
