Evelyn Christine Zornes, 82, of Hillsboro died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at her home.
She was born April 17, 1934 near Maysville, Ky., the daughter of the late Purnell Newton and Stella Nancy Pierce Hurst.
Mrs. Zornes was a homemaker, had worked as a secretary for Nolan’s TV Repair, John Tom Studio, Hillsboro Transportation, Zornes Stables and had worked for the Hercules Trouser Company.
She was a member of the Carpenter’s House of Prayer.
She is survived by two sons, Kimble (Linda) Zornes and Dale (Elissa) Zornes of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Kimberly Lynn (Brian) Allen, Nathan Keith (Ashley) Zornes, Krystal Dawn (Michael) Hannah, Aaron (Amelia) Zornes, Jeremy (Meredith) Zornes and Jennifer (Nathan) Hamilton; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Clos of Flemingsburg, Ky. and Jessie Weaver of Lexington, Ky.; one sister-in-law, Rita Hurst of Dover, Ky.; and a special friend, Pauline Pennington of Hillsboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan K. Zornes on Sept. 1, 2002; one son, Nolan K. Zornes Jr. on May 7, 1952; and one brother, Donald Hurst.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Carpenter’s House of Prayer, 7450 Fairground Road, Hillsboro.
Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Carpenter’s House of Prayer.
