Eugene “Butch” Sylvester Nartker, 79, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the Bell Gardens Place with his family by his side.
He was born Dec. 11, 1942, in Cincinnati, the son of the late Sylvester A. and Jean (Lewis) Nartker.
Butch was a 1960 graduate from Hillsboro High School. He was in law enforcement for 27 years, and 18 of those years he was a police officer for the City of Hillsboro Police Department. He also served as a deputy sheriff, volunteer firefighter and a past member of the Highland Masonic Lodge #38 F&AM. He was a carpenter, enjoyed woodworking, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Butch is survived by three children, Robert “Rob” (Kim) Nartker of Colorado, Traci (Rich) Corzatt of Leesburg and Brandon (Laurie) Nartker of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Sydney (Tyler) Schmidt, Makenna Corzatt, Guy Nartker, Gage Nartker, Gunner Nartker, Mason Nartker and Beckett Nartker; a great-grandson, Michael “Alex” Brown; three siblings, Anna Jean (Tim) Butler of Hillsboro, Patty Miller of Hillsboro and Larry (Sandra) Nartker of Hillsboro; a sister-in-law, Donna Jane Nartker of Greenfield; stepdaughters, Stacy Bailey of Hillsboro and Stephanie (Ron) Martin of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and other family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Nartker and Danny Nartker; and a brother-in-law, Glen Miller.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral service will take place Friday, May 6 at 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery.
