Ethel O. Carter, 98, of Washington C.H., passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.

She was born May 3, 1922 in Adams County, the daughter of James T. and Mary (McCall) Lewis.

She loved her family and her husband (best friend). She was a homemaker and lifetime Sunday school teacher.

Her passion was the word of God and winning people to the Lord Jesus. She was faithful to her Gathering Place family and she loved them dearly.

She is survived by her two sons, Philip W. (Dawn) Carter of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Charles E. Jr. (Vicki) Carter of South Salem; one daughter, Mary Jane Carter of Washington C.H.; five grandchildren, Patricia Wenger, Paula Kassel, Phil (Julie) Carter, James (Heather) Carter and Renee’ (Roger) Loyd; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandsons, Scott (Debbie) Dyke and Todd Dyke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Carter, on Dec. 11, 2011; two brothers, Leo Lewis and Grover Lewis; one sister, Elsie Chamblin; three sisters-in-law, Betty Lewis, Rachel Lewis and Velma Lewis; and one brother-in-law, Floyd Chamblin.

Services will be 7 p.m. Friday, May 7 at The Gathering Place, 240 Courthouse Pkwy., Washington C.H., with Pastors John Pfeifer and Todd Kritzwiser officiating. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday, at the church.

Friends and family may join at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8 at The Gathering Place for a procession to Highlawn Cemetery followed by burial.

The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
