Eric L. Thompson, 48, of Hillsboro, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2022 due to an automobile accident.
He was born June 13, 1974 in Wilmington, the son of George Thompson of Hillsboro and the late Barbara (Varvel) Thompson.
Eric was a 1993 graduate from Hillsboro High School, member of the Hillsboro 1st United Methodist Church and worked at Amazon in Wilmington. Eric loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting and was an archery instructor. Eric was a people person who never met a stranger.
Besides his father, Eric is survived by his wife, Danielle R. (Brown) Thompson, to whom he was united in marriage on Aug. 29, 1998. Eric and Danielle were blessed with a son, Joseph Thompson, and daughter, Meghan Thompson, both at home. He is also survived by a brother, George Thompson of Lynchburg; sisters, Jeanette (Rob) Ludwick of Hillsboro and Lori (Chuck) Lewis of Lynchburg; mother-in-law, Beverly Brown of Hillsboro, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Chris Brown of Hillsboro and Kipp (Jackie) Brown of Hillsboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, Nov. 14, 2022 at 5 p.m. at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, 133 E. Walnut Street, Hillsboro. Pastor Dr. Derek Russell will officiate services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-5 p.m. at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church.
Thompson Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family.
