Elsie Annette Young

Elsie Annette Young, 105, of Hillsboro passed away peacefully on Friday evening, July 2, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 30, 1916 in Washington Court House, the daughter of the late Clifford and Consuelo Jasper Roberts.
Mrs. Young had worked in the dietary department at Highland District Hospital for several years. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, the Cedar Grove Lodge No. 18 in Greenfield, the St. Elizabeth Chapter No. 6 in Chillicothe, the WCTU, Magnolia Twig, AAARC, Highland County Coalition, Christian Women’s Organization, Eastern Union Women’s Auxiliary, Hattie Jackson Missionary Society, Senior Quorum, Inspirational Choir and nurse and deaconess of the New Hope Baptist Church. She had taught church Sunday school, served as an officer for the Chillicothe District Missionary Convention and was on the Advisory Board of Youth Mass Division.
She is survived by two sons, William Russell (Mary) Steward of Dayton and Ralph (Jennifer) Steward of Hillsboro; three daughters, Virginia Harewood, Carolyn (Lewis) Goins and Charlotte Harbut of Hillsboro; one stepson, David (Sherry) Young of Hillsboro; one daughter-in-law, Delia Steward of California; one sister, Ruth Simmons of Dayton; 36 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four husbands, James Lester Steward, Oscar W. Ames, Vernon S. Perkins and Vernon Young; two sons, James and Lewis Steward; and two daughters, Geneva Lee and Evelyn Bostick; and one sister, Mary Frazier.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8 at the New Hope Baptist Church. Pastor Tyrone Lawes will officiate. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 7 at the church.
