Elmer Leroy Woods, 68, of Woods Road, Peebles, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, in Bloomington, Ind.
He was born Nov. 7, 1949 in Pike County, the son of the late Elmer Archie Woods and Lucille Ruth McRoberts Woods.
Surviving are his companion, Deborah Davis-Rittinger of Peebles; a son, Jeffrey Wade Woods of Lucasville; a daughter, Kellee Jo Steward and husband, Dylan, of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Chastity Woods, Layton Woods, Cody Barry, Rubee and Gwenn Steward; seven great-grandchildren; step-children, Craig McMullen, Jeff and Rita Crawford, Kristian, Hunter, Nathan, Evelyn “Squeek,” Audra Branham, Cierra, Bill and Cindy Cook; brothers, Daniel Woods of Piketon, James Woods of Peebles and Edwin Woods of Waverly; and sisters, Wanda McJunkin of Waverly and Barbara Leeth of Waverly.
In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Wayne Woods; and two sisters, Joyce Kay Bolton and Sherry Woods.
Leroy was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam era, and he was a truck driver.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 at Beaver’s Chapel Wesleyan Tabernacle, Peebles, with the Rev. Darby Beekman officiating. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery, Peebles, with military honors conducted by American Legion Merritt Post 142, Waverly.
Friends may call at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly from 5-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
