Elmer L. Highley, 82, of Leesburg, passed away peacefully Feb. 10, 2022 at his home.
Elmer was born Dec. 11, 1939 in Bath County, Ky., the son of the late Willie and Mary (McIlviana) Highley.
He married the love of his life, Juanita Anne (Newman) Highley, on Nov. 15, 1958. Together they had four daughters, Kim (Kenny) Fife, Tammy Reser, Marianna Bennett and Jo Highley. He was a member of the Leesburg Church of Christ, served in the National Guard and worked his whole life. Elmer retired from Candle-lite after 48 years of dedicated service. He was superintendent over shipping and receiving. Elmer was a wonderful husband, father, grandparent and all-around great person and would help anyone who needed it.
He had 10 grandchildren, K.J. (Errin) Fife, Kassie (Kitana Cantrell) Fife, Keith (Taylor) Fife, Clint (Billie) Crabtree, Lindsey Adams, Vanna (Tyler) Adams, Dacoda Bennett, Lucas (Savanna) Dietrich, Mallory McGlone and Josh Highley; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Viola Whitt.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Anne (Newman) Highley, on May 31, 2019; one daughter, Tammy Reser; one brother, Willie Ray Highley; and one sister, Margaret Highley.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022 at 3 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg. Pastors Kevin Stuckey and Robert Highley will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
