Ekie Eancu “John” Fuller, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at Court House Manor in Washington Court House with family by his side.
He was born Dec. 6, 1931 in Toledo, the son of Elie and Frances (Moldavan) Fuller.
He was a 1954 graduate of the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Carson, Colo., from 1954-56, attaining the rank of first lieutenant.
For more than 30 years, Mr. Fuller was the owner and operator of Hillcrest Pharmacy in Lynchburg and Hillsboro, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hillsboro and had served on Hillsboro City Council. Over the years, Mr. Fuller was involved in civic organizations, including the Hillsboro Elks, Hillsboro Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and several charitable organizations. He was an avid naturalist and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed attending many Cincinnati Reds Opening Day games with his sons and special friends, the late Judge James Hapner and Rory Ryan.
He is survived by his wife, Doris June (Hollister) Fuller, whom he married Oct. 1, 1955; three sons, Michael J. (Mary) Fuller of Live Oak, Fla., Timothy J. (Connie) Fuller of Anderson Township and Christopher B. (Kathleen) Fuller of Washington Court House; seven grandchildren, Ian (Dia), Evan, Meaghann, Madison, Cali, Eli and Claudia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Fuller was preceded in death by five brothers, Nick, John, Sam, Eli and Samuca, who died in infancy.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Fuller will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25 with Father Michael Paraniuk officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
