Edward Ludvic ‘Ted’ Blackwood, 91, a former resident of Hillsboro, and Cocoa Beach, Fla., passed away of natural causes at his recent home in Foster City, Calif. on Oct. 19, 2021.
He was born Nov. 12, 1929 of Scottish heritage in New Jersey to parents Edward and Flora (Henderson) Blackwood.
He lived most of his formative years in London, England, along with his only brother, David. After World War II ended, Ted’s family returned to the United States to reside in Michigan. After serving in the army during the Korean War, he was educated in the printing field. Ted joined Rotary Forms Press, Inc. when it started in Detroit, relocated to Hillsboro with the company in the late 1950s and rose to the position of general sales manager. Ted loved to sail and owned a sailboat “Seawind,” which he would sail from Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas and up and down the Intracoastal Waterway. He also sailed to many parts of the world, crossing many oceans, including port visits to Yemen, Seychelles, Australia and transits through the Panama and Suez Canals.
He is survived by a daughter, Laura Blackwood of Arizona; a son, David Angus (Beth Szuhay) Blackwood of Redwood, Calif.; a granddaughter Cassidy of Redwood, Calif.; loved as family, Sherri Wisecup (Doug) Smithson of Loveland, Michael Addington of Buckhead, Ga., Tyler (Tasha) Addington of Mariemont and Evelyn Addington of Mariemont.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David Blackwood of Scotland; his first wife, Deana (Kirilloff) Blackwood of Phoenix; and special companion, Phyllis Pierce Wisecup of Milford.
A private service was conducted for Ted, a 32nd-degree Mason, at sea with Masonic representation in Half Moon Bay, Calif.
