Edward E. Herrick Britten, 70, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022.

Ed was born Nov. 25, 1952 in Troy, N.Y., the son of the late Leroy Reuben and Harriett (Lane) Britten.

Ed was a 1971 graduate of Stillwater High School in Stillwater, N.Y. After graduation, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. After his enlistment, Ed continued serving his country in the Army Reserves, where he retired after 20 years of service. Ed worked at the Montrose Square Apartments in Hillsboro for 22 years and at Lowe’s in Hillsboro for several years. Ed was a member of the Northview Baptist Church.

On Jan. 5, 1985, Ed was united in marriage to Christine (Moore) Britten, who survives; one daughter, Rebeca McCurry of Crawfordsville, Ind.; one sister, Jane Albertson of New Baltimore, N.Y.; nephew, Russell Albertson; niece, Valerie Fritchley; and a host of friends.

A celebration of life was held Jan. 7, 2023 at the Northview Baptist Church. Pastor Doug Saunders officiated. Burial followed in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
