Edith 'Elaine' Jones

Edith “Elaine” Jones passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 at her home.

She was born Aug. 26, 1946 in Portsmouth, the daughter of the late Harold May and Rilda Shaw Ferris.

Elaine married her high school sweetheart, Richard L. Jones on May 6, 1964, and they loved each other for 60 years. She lived a beautiful, dignified life and was cherished by her family.
 
Elaine wanted nothing more than to be a mother, and she loved her family fiercely. She excelled at supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Her unconditional love was steadfast, and she filled her home with welcoming warmth and kindness. She passes to her family a pure example of an all-encompassing love and compassion for others. They were truly blessed. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh, and those memories of her laughter and love will forever be with her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Deidra Nickerson (Janet Traylor) of Chillicothe, Tamara Lane of Frankfort and Christy Jones of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Derek Nickerson (Kristin), Alexia Nickerson, Nicholas Lane, Jenna Lane and Olivia Garcia; and her brother, Edgar May (Troutle).

Elaine was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde May and Merrill May; and her stepsister, Ruthann Sizemore.
 
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at 1 p.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with her family in charge of the service. Visitation at the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort will be private and at the convenience of the family.
